Welcome

From our State Regent

Welcome to South Dakota, where we truly experience all four seasons, sometimes within the same 24-hour period. South Dakota is a land of wonders, natural and manmade, such as the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, and the Mammoth Site just to name a few. We have an amazing history which includes the establishment of Deadwood from the Black Hills Gold Rush of 1874; famous residents like Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane; and one can follow the Lewis and Clark Expedition through the state. Plus, we must not overlook the people. They are open and friendly, willing to assist, and last but definitely not least, welcoming. The South Dakota State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (SDSDAR) currently has 10 chapters and is 480 plus members strong.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women's service organization composed of women who have men or women in their lineage who served to help form this country during the Revolutionary War. South Dakota Daughters are active in the objectives of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism.  Members attend chapter and state meetings, serve their communities, and choose from many activities and committees to contribute their talents within the DAR.

My State Regent motto is a quote from Roy T. Bennett:

"Believe in yourself. You are braver than you think, more talented than you know, and capable of more than you imagine."
