The dedication to patriotism is evident in every chapter within our state.

  • You will find our South Dakota Daughters working hundreds of volunteer hours in each of our three-state Veterans Administration hospitals.

  • Many chapter members participate in the Fourth of July parades across our state and proudly join and initiate patriotic activities in their communities.

  • Flag etiquette brochures are distributed at fairs, schools, and events throughout the state by chapter members.

  • Chapter members participate in the welcoming of our new citizens during naturalization ceremonies.

  • DAR Daughters, as commemorative partners, sponsor displays commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War which include biographies of the Vietnam War casualties from South Dakota.

Members across our state were able to initiate and attend the signing of the Executive Proclamation of The Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War by South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard.

Favorite projects to enhance the lives of our veterans are to both fund and supply assistance to the fishing trips for paralyzed veterans: Valentines for Veterans activities, assembling and donating personal care kits to the Veterans Administration hospitals, ROTC awards, and Wreaths Across America.

Our State Regent’s Project is Operation Black Hills Cabin, a serene and calming place where those veterans who are returning with injuries sustained during their service to our country can enjoy a quiet retreat with their family. This time away from day to day responsibilities is crucial to regaining some normalcy after returning home for both our veterans and their families.
